Laravel Installation on Linux Mint

So as you know Laravel installation failed on Mac ( too embarrased to talk about it ). So I’d just say there’s some problem with my Mac 😛

I use Linux Mint as my primary desktop. Here are the installation steps:

PHP Dependencies:

mbstring, tokenizer, PHP PDO, OpenSSL PHP

OpenSSL is already compiled in, so don’t worry about that.

PHP PDO comes with php5-mysql package, so if is missing run

sudo apt-get install php5-mysql

mbstring and tokenizer can be installed by:

sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php5

php -r "copy('', 'composer-setup.php');"
php -r "if (hash_file('SHA384', 'composer-setup.php') === '070854512ef404f16bac87071a6db9fd9721da1684cd4589b1196c3faf71b9a2682e2311b36a5079825e155ac7ce150d') { echo 'Installer verified'; } else { echo 'Installer corrupt'; unlink('composer-setup.php'); } echo PHP_EOL;"
php composer-setup.php
php -r "unlink('composer-setup.php');"

Picked straight up from I know you people are lazy 😛

Composer up and running. Ofcourse you can do fancy stuff like moving it to bin and making a executable command out of it. But as always, I’m in a hurry LOL

Now we need to install Laravel

Installing Laravel:

php composer.phar global require “laravel/installer”

Takes some time, so go have that cuppa tea 😉

After its finished, use composer to create the project.

php composer.phar create-project –prefer-dist laravel/laravel <prj-name>

And wohoo! Laravel is installed.
